Hive Dwellers + Kimya Dawson

I have never really been a Kimya Dawson fan, but I saw that she was playing a tiny venue literally 2 blocks from my apartment in downtown Vancouver, WA, I couldn’t not go. Calvin Johnsons new band “The Hive Dwellers” opened up and I do think Calvin is pretty great. I heard that a week before, he did this exact same act at Neumos in Seattle, with no microphone or anything. He was heckled by some Ted Leo and The Pharmacists fans.

I was pretty impressed with Kimya too. Shes a great lyricist. Read the rest for some videos of Kimyas performance.

Neighbors

My best friends brother played a show at the Comet Tavern on Capital Hill last week and they were just drunk enough to have me witness their science. Of course they have no website or music up, but maybe I will post some stuff when they get their shit together. They did an exemplary job. Pavement cover Summer Babe rounded out the set nicely.
