Seattle – WA

I visited some friends up in Seattle last weekend, and got to break in my “new” Retina S3. Here’s a rundown of the journey and some shots from the trip.

Gorditos in the Greenwood district was dinner, serving their “9-month-old-infant” sized burritos, almost as large as they are delicious. Lunch the next day was Than Brothers for a 5 dollar bowl of pho you could easily bathe a small child in, and 2 dollar banh mi sandwhiches from the “Siagon Deli” on Jackson.

We stayed on Capital Hill, a well rounded little island in the heart of Seattle, offering a wide variety of restaurants, bars, and record stores.

Bauhaus, my favorite coffee shop, is open late and serves terrific coffee. Cafe Vita is also pretty terrific. I do miss Seattle coffee.

The goodwill bins in Seattle makes the Portland “Bins” seem like a waste of time. I think they have a rule that nobody pays more than 1 dollar for anything. I payed 20 cents for a copy of Bukowski shorts “Run with the Hunted.”

Right close to the Bins is Georgetown where you will find the Fantagraphics Showroom attatched to a vintage record store. My friend was looking for a specific Soft Machine album so we ended up at a lot of record stores. Didn’t spend much time in Georgetown, but Smarty Pants and Calamity Janes are great for beer and food.

For beer we visited a variety of bars. The Cha-Cha, for overpriced cans of Tecate, and Linda’s Tavern for some great local Porter.

My favorite bar in Seattle, by far is the College Inn Pub in the U-District, where stairs lead you down to a cozy underground pub with lots of booths and nooks, and even a private room with a piano. The jukebox is decent, they have a fireplace and pool table, and the guy from that band Kinski will totally sell you on the happy hour specials.
Here are some more shots from around the city.

You always make everything look like Suntoy Times. I’m glad you have something regular up and running that isn’t your Hershey squirts.
